First Things First… Understand the Why

Before jumping into the interview process, it's essential to grasp the purpose behind conducting in-depth interviews. This enable you to focus on uncovering findings on what you and your team would love to learn from the research.

At this point, meeting with stakeholders is KEY. Stakeholders can be your fellow researchers, the design team, the product manager or even the marketing department. Talking with stakeholders helps in:

  1. Aligning Objectives: It ensures that the research objectives align with the overall business goals and stakeholder expectations.

  2. Securing Buy-in and Support: When stakeholders feel they are part of the process, they are more likely to advocate for the research.

  3. Identifying Key Metrics and Success Indicators: Stakeholders can help in defining what success looks like and what metrics are important to track.

  4. Accessing Information and Resources: Stakeholders often have access to valuable information and resources that can aid in your research. E.g. data, contacts etc.

  5. Facilitating Implementation of Findings: When stakeholders are involved from the beginning they are more likely to understand and value the insights, making it easier to implement the findings of the research.
